And, with thoughts of growth, greenery, and freshness firmly in our minds, there’s no better time to bring some luscious and healing plant power into your home, garden, and even workspace… here’s why!
Plant health
It’s no secret that plants are good for your health! But, like trees, they do the opposite of what we humans do; breathing in carbon dioxide and breathing out oxygen. So, having plants within your home actually helps to purify the air around you. In addition, these clever beauties work to clean the toxins from within the air. NASA has even studied the power of plants and their impact on indoor pollution, and it makes for some interesting reading!
Try a eucalyptus plant in your bathroom - this will help clean the air, and the steam from your shower will release essential oils, which smell heavenly!
Plant productivity
Did you know that having a house plant can boost your productivity? Studies have shown that having plants around you can increase your productivity and concentration by up to 15%! Which makes a house plant a great addition to your workspace, especially if you’re still feeling in the depths of winter.
Try a peace lily - they don’t require a tremendous amount of light and create a great focal point.
Plant creativity
As well as productivity and concentration, plants can give you that creative boost you’ve been lacking. Looking at green, healthy plants can help us feel more relaxed and calmer. Alongside houseplants, a study by Harvard University has shown that fresh flowers can boost energy and feelings of compassion. Floral delights for the win!
Try a Pothos - a popular houseplant that looks great in a macrame hanging pot. Plus, in Feng Shui, it’s believed to clear negative energy and is best placed in the corner of a room.
Plant healing
For centuries, people used plants to ease physical symptoms and to calm and relax them. And as a result, they would grow herbs and plants to create medicines and cures for all kinds of illnesses. In today’s world, herbalists and functional medicine are rooted in these age-old practices utilising plants such as camomile, lavender and milk thistle to help support our health and wellbeing.
Try aloe vera - the plant's gel has antiseptic qualities and can help with skin inflammation and thinning hair.
Plant happiness
Overall, plants are great for our wellbeing and taking care of a plant is one way to be more mindful and get involved in nature. In addition, one study found that interacting with indoor plants can soothe, destress and calm down our nervous system, and we could all do with a little of that!
Try Lavender - great for calming and soothing and helping you get to sleep. Plus, its smell alone is enough to chill you out!
Why not invite some healing plant power into your own home and notice how it transforms your space, health, and wellbeing.
Did you know that we currently have Daisy and Sunflower seeds ready to be added to our Build-Your-Own boxes? Why not add a pack to that little gift you were going to treat yourself to and tag us when they’ve bloomed?!
