So grab your fuzziest blanket, or comfiest pyjamas, cosy up in your favourite spot, and let’s dive head first into our Book Lover box top picks for Winter reads:

Come and Get It by Kiley Reid
This book is the definition of ‘just one more chapter at 2am’. It’s witty, it’s insightful, and it brings the drama. It’s a novel about ambition and class, perfect for fans of campus novels that have a bit more depth.
Tropes: Found family, Coming of age, Social satire
The Cinnamon Bun Book Store by Laurie Gilmore
The title sold you, didn’t it? It’s pretty much what it says on the tin: charming small town + bookshops + baked goods = romance. It’s like watching a Hallmark movie, but with more spice, and we’re not complaining.
Tropes: Small town romance, Second chances, Cosy mystery
The Pumpkin Spice Cafe by Laurie Gilmore
If you thought the cinnamon buns were cosy, you ain’t seen nothing yet. Laurie Gilmore (so hard not to type Lorelei!) is back with another sweet story that’s basically Autumn in a book. This one’s about new beginnings, friendship, and finding your place in the world, naturally centred around a quaint autumn-themed café, because of course it is.
Tropes: Fish out of water, Friends to lovers, Seasonal charm

How to Kill Your Family by Bella Mackie
Like your winter reads with a side of dark humour? Us too! This wickedly funny story of revenge will keep you guessing until the very end. We love a twist in the tale!
Tropes: Unreliable narrator, Dark humour, Revenge plot
It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover
Fancy an emotional rollercoaster? Course you do! This book tackles tough subjects with grace and honesty. You’ve probably seen the movie promos everywhere this Summer, so if you haven’t read the book, get ready to see what all the fuss is about. It’s a powerful story of love and resilience that will stay with you long after the last page. You will need tissues though; fair warning.
Tropes: Second chance romance, Overcoming trauma, Found family
It Starts with Us by Colleen Hoover
And when you’ve finished It Ends with Us, time to head straight into the next one! The highly anticipated sequel continues Lily's journey. A must-read for fans of the first book, the sequel is just as gripping, just as emotional and just as impossible to put down!
Tropes: Healing from past trauma, New beginnings, Chosen family
The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood
Okay we know, it’s not your typical ‘cosy’ read, but hear us out! It’s a timeless classic that remains as relevant as ever. It’s like those deep and meaningfuls you have with friends over a bottle of wine—intense, gripping and emotional. This dystopian masterpiece is the definition of thought-provoking and the perfect excuse to start a mini book club with your bookish besties, Book Lovers TreatBoxes all round!
Tropes: Dystopian society, Female resilience, Social commentary

The Burnout by Sophie Kinsella
Well, this is one we can all relate to! Sophie Kinsella’s latest is like a spa day for your brain. It’s funny, relatable, and might just make you feel better about the time you sent an email to your whole office instead of just your work wife. A perfect pick-me-up for when you need a reminder that it’s okay not to have it all together. Actually, we think it’s time for a re-read already…
Tropes: Personal growth, Workplace comedy, Finding balance
The Lost Bookshop by Evie Woods
This one is the perfect escape from the seasonal sads. It’s full of magic, mystery and romance; set in a mysterious bookshop, side effects of reading may include daydreams about dreamy booksellers at inappropriate moments.
Tropes: Magical realism, Bookish romance, Hidden secrets
The Housemaid by Freida McFadden
The definition of ‘gripping psychological suspense’ this one will keep you on the edge of your seat. You’ll be sitting up in bed at 1am, unable to resist starting the next chapter and also cursing the fact you forgot to close the curtains, because is that a shadow outside or… okay, maybe don’t read this one at home alone. It’s terrifying and completely unputdownable!
Tropes: Unreliable narrator, Domestic suspense, Class dynamics

The Women by Kristin Hannah
Last but in no way least, we have another historical masterpiece from Kristin Hannah (just don’t talk to us about the Nightingale, we’re not emotionally strong enough). This one is an epic tale of friendship, courage, and the incredible spirit of women during World War II. Her writing literally transports you to another time, so be prepared to be completely immersed and ever so slightly emotionally devastated.
Tropes: Historical fiction, Female friendship, Wartime romance

And that’s a wrap, 11 isn’t that many books to add to your TBR! But if one in particular caught your eye, or you’ve been meaning to read one for a while, this is your official sign from the universe. Because let's face it, the only thing better than a good book is a good book that arrives straight through your letterbox!
