1. What’s the sentiment?
Firstly, consider the sentiment. Is the gift for a birthday, an anniversary? Are you thanking someone for doing a great job, hoping to get well soon or because you want to send them a hug in the post? Before you put pen to paper, think about the occasion and the sentiment you wish to convey.
